You’re free they say

You’re free they say,

You have choice they told me,

At what cost though?

I didn’t know.

I have free will I read,

So long in the lines I keep.

That scripture spoke to me.

My soul though,

Will guide me.

To let go of worldly desires,

To give up what my heart desires,

It reads…

That’s the devil tempting me.

A leash I have,

I follow the path.

But that voice,

I cannot rid,

It chants the same tune,

The devil speaks.

I am free though.

I have choice.

The irony,

The book has a path for me.
