Poetry

Do not tell us to calm down

Do not tell us to calm down

Do not tell us to shut up

Do not tell us to back down

When you never miss a chance

To shoot our dreams with your laws like arrows

But, do not forget

That within the gardens

You have burned throughout history

Some flowers learned to grow higher

Than the apartheid walls hiding the sun

With pines so sharp

They could break your arrows

And know

That your misogyny and sexism

Taught us the value of militancy

Also understand

That if you have destroyed what we had

You cannot get what we are

For revolutions are ideas

And ideas can not be killed.
